As owner of the Tallawarra power station, EnergyAustralia is proud to be part of the Illawarra region and is committed to making a positive difference to our local community. We recognise the importance of engaging with the community to build a vibrant place to live and work.
Consultation plays a key role in helping us to gain a greater understanding of the Illawarra community’s opinions, priorities and expectations.
Community Grants Program
EnergyAustralia Tallawarra provides community funding for local initiatives that will deliver sustainable benefits to the Illawarra region.
The Illawarra Region extends from Helensburgh in the north to Gerroa in the south. Applicants with projects that benefit communities close to the Tallawarra Power Station are particularly encouraged to apply.
Community Grants Applications will be accepted each year between
- Round 1: 1 March – 31 March
- Round 2: 1 September – 30 September

Community liaison group
We recognise that we have a responsibility to consult with and support the local Illawarra community. Our Community Liaison Group engages with the community on a regular basis.
Community Newsletters
EnergyAustralia keeps the Illawarra community informed on matters including upcoming work on site, environmental impacts and mitigation strategies, community grants, highlighting benefits to the local community and support for the community close to Tallawarra. We provide community newsletters on a regular basis, tailored to local interests and relevance. Nearby neighbours receive a hardcopy in their letterboxes, and newsletters are available for download.
