Grants of up to $10,000 each are now available through EnergyAustralia’s Community Grants program, which supports community initiatives within Geelong and the Western District that focus on improving education and social inclusion.
EnergyAustralia’s Customer Care Leader, Jim Salter-Duke, said the EnergyAustralia team is excited to make a difference in the local community.
“We’re a big employer in Geelong, with hundreds of people working in our contact centre, and these grants are a way for us to make a positive difference where we live and work.
“This year, we’ll distribute $20,000 in grants to community groups, and we encourage applications from across the City of Greater Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast Shire and further west in Colac and Warrnambool.
“Last year, EnergyAustralia Geelong supported some great initiatives – Elf Squad, Look Good Feel Better and Lifeline Geelong and South-West Victoria. We look forward to receiving more deserving applications this year,” he said.
EnergyAustralia grants are awarded to projects based on their potential to benefit the community in two areas:
• Education: Projects aimed at promoting education and development, including those with a social or environmental focus or those supporting career or skill development.
• Social inclusion: Projects aimed at facilitating social inclusion and community cohesion. For example, upgrading communal facilities, improving local amenities, and supporting vulnerable community members.
Since its inception, EnergyAustralia’s Geelong Community Grants program has distributed around $100,000 to local organisations. EnergyAustralia employees are also each given two paid volunteering days per year. This year, the Geelong contact centre team has already contributed more than 200 volunteer hours to support local causes.
Applications for EnergyAustralia’s Geelong Community Grants program open on Monday, 3 October 2022 and close at 5:00 pm on Friday, 28 October 2022. For more information on the grants and to apply click here.
