As a customer, you may qualify for various concessions administered by EnergyAustralia on behalf of the NSW Government. Eligibility conditions vary and are subject to change from time to time. Please read the information provided for each concession below to see if you are eligible.
Rebate details in community languages
- The NSW Government’s energy rebates website can translate the rebate eligibility rules, rebate types and rebate amounts in the following community languages:

From 1 July 2024, the NSW Government Low Income Household Rebate is $350 (excl.GST) per annum. This rebate is applied as a daily amount on your electricity bill. The exact amount of the rebate paid on each bill will depend on the number of days in that billing period.
The premise for which this rebate is claimed must be your principal place of residence.
To be eligible, the account holder must hold one of the following concession cards:
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Centrelink Health Care Card
- Centrelink Low Income Health Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card (for recipients of War Widow or War Widower, Totally and Permanently Incapacitated rate or Extreme Disablement Adjustment rate pensions)

If you don’t have an account with EnergyAustralia but live in a residential community (caravan or mobile home park):
Residents living in a residential community (caravan or mobile home park) with on-supplied electricity who pay the operator for their electricity usage can also access the NSW Government Low Income Household Rebate. You can apply for this rebate directly with the NSW Government using the attached form.
From 1 July 2017, the NSW Government Gas Rebate is $110 (excl.GST) per annum. This rebate is applied as a daily amount on your gas bill. The exact amount of the rebate paid on each bill will depend on the number of days in that billing period.
The premise for which this rebate is claimed must be your principal place of residence.
To be eligible, the account holder must hold one of the following concession cards:
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Centrelink Health Care Card
- Centrelink Low Income Health Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card

If you don’t have an account with EnergyAustralia but live in a residential community (caravan or mobile home park):
If you rely on bottled or metered LPG or live in a on-supplied residential community, retirement village or strata scheme, you can also access the NSW Government Gas Rebate. You can apply for this rebate directly with the NSW Government using the attached form.
The Medical Energy Rebate is for eligible customers who are unable to self-regulate their body temperature when exposed to extreme (hot or cold) temperatures due to certain medical conditions such as Parkinson's disease and Multiple Sclerosis.
From 1 July 2024, the NSW Government Medical Energy Rebate is $350 (excl.GST) per annum. This rebate is applied as a daily amount on your electricity bill. The exact amount of the rebate paid on each bill will depend on the number of days in that billing period. This rebate can be paid in addition to the NSW Government Low Income Household Rebate.
To be eligible for this rebate, you must submit a valid application form which has been signed by a registered medical practitioner which verifies that either the customer named on the bill or someone else residing at the residence has an inability to self-regulate body temperature. A copy of this form is attached here.
In addition, the account holder must hold one of the following concession cards:
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Centrelink Health Care Card
- Centrelink Low Income Health Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card (for recipients of War Widow or War Widower, Totally and Permanently Incapacitated rate or Extreme Disablement Adjustment rate pensions)

Residents living in a residential community (caravan or mobile home park) with on-supplied electricity who pay the operator for their electricity usage can also access the NSW Government Medical Energy Rebate. You can apply for this rebate directly with the NSW Government using the attached form.
The NSW Government Life Support Rebate provides additional financial support to customers who require the use of specific life support machines in their home. If you have more than one type of life support machine in your home you are eligible to receive more than one rebate.
This rebate can be paid in addition to the NSW Government Low Income Household Rebate and NSW Government Medical Energy Rebate. Customers do not have to be a concession card holder to be eligible to receive this rebate.
To be eligible for this rebate, you must submit a valid application form which has been signed by a registered medical practitioner which verifies that the use of the approved life support equipment is required at your principal place of residence. A copy of this form is attached here.
The exact amount of the rebate paid on each bill will depend on the number of days in that billing period and which machine type you are using.
The current daily rates for eligible machines are as follows:

The Family Energy Rebate assists families with managing their energy costs and it’s only available to residential customers who receive the Commonwealth Government’s Family Tax Benefit A or B.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the Family Energy Rebate within a financial year, you must:
- Be a New South Wales resident; and
- Be an account holder with EnergyAustralia or a long-term resident of an on-supplied residential community, whose name appears on the electricity account for supply to his or her principal place of residence; and
- Have been assessed by Services Australia as eligible for Family Tax Benefit (FTB) A or B at any time during the financial year immediately preceding the financial year in which an application for the Family Energy Rebate is made and received a payment of FTB in respect to that eligibility.
The Family Energy Rebate is $250 for non-concession card holders and $30 for concession card holders. The amount you are eligible to receive will be determined by the NSW Government when you apply.
How to apply
Applications for the 2024/2025 NSW Family Energy Rebate are open until 11.00PM Sunday 15 June 2025.
You can apply for the NSW Family Energy Rebate by filling out the online application form before this date and time.
The NSW Seniors Energy Rebate is available for eligible independent retirees to help cover the cost of their electricity. This rebate is administered by the NSW Government.
To be eligible you need to hold a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC).
The NSW Seniors Energy Rebate is $250 per household, per financial year.
If your application is successful, the rebate will be paid directly into your nominated bank or Credit Union account.
Note: Gas accounts are not eligible for the rebate.

Eligibility
To be eligible you must:
- be a NSW resident
- have a valid CSHC from Centrelink or the DVA
- be the primary account holder named on your electricity bill
- apply for the rebate at your primary place of residence.
What you need to apply?
- a MyServiceNSW Account
- your valid CSHC from Centrelink or the DVA
- your most recent electricity bill from EnergyAustralia
- your contact details
- your bank or Credit Union account details.
How to apply
- Check you meet the eligibility requirements.
- Select the 'Apply online' button from the following link (Apply for the Seniors Energy Rebate | Service NSW).
- Log in, or create your MyServiceNSW Account.
- Enter the required details.
- Submit the application.
If you're unable to apply online, visit a service centre or call ServiceNSW on 13 77 88.
If your application is successful, you'll receive payment within 5 working days into your nominated bank/Credit Union account. Service NSW will contact you if there are problems issuing your payment.
If your application is unsuccessful, you'll be notified during the application process.
