EnergyAustralia recognises that the proposed site for the Lake Lyell Pumped Hydro Project is on the traditional Country of the Wiradjuri peoples and respects and acknowledges their continued connection to Country and culture.
New South Wales is undergoing an energy transformation to develop new renewable energy sources that address Australia’s climate change goals.
The clean energy transformation will involve the planned closure of coal-fired power stations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and major investments in new energy projects to provide a reliable, affordable energy supply for the eight million people who live in New South Wales.
Solar and wind generation are part of the solution, and we also need energy storage systems such as grid-scale batteries and pumped hydro for times of high demand, and for when there is no sun or wind.
That’s why EnergyAustralia is investigating the feasibility of a pumped hydro energy storage project on land we own near Lithgow.
