EnergyAustralia Yallourn today confirmed in the County Court of Victoria that it was pleading guilty to three related contraventions of s 21(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 in relation to the tragic death of Mr Graeme Edwards in November 2018.
The charges under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 were laid in December 2021 and EnergyAustralia Yallourn’s pleadings were previously advised in May 2022.
In today’s hearing, EnergyAustralia Yallourn again expressed its regret and remorse for the tragic and avoidable death of Mr Edwards and acknowledged the impact it has had on both his family and his workmates.
EnergyAustralia Yallourn was represented in Court by a number of senior EnergyAustralia executives.
As this matter is before the Court, it would be inappropriate to comment further, and EnergyAustralia Yallourn now awaits a decision on penalties by the Court.
