EnergyAustralia today announced that Chief Financial Officer Alastair McKeown has decided to leave the company to take up a new role as Chief Financial Officer at private equity-owned Intellihub.
Managing Director Mark Collette said: “Alastair has been Chief Financial Officer at EnergyAustralia for seven years, and while we will miss him, it’s natural that after such a long period in the role, he has decided this is the right time to take on an exciting opportunity to progress his career.
“Alastair will leave us in the coming months, and together with the talented Finance team he has established, it means we are well-placed to make a smooth, well-managed transition while we undertake an internal and external search for his replacement.
“Completing the search process is likely to take some time, and I am pleased to announce that Hamish Irving, currently Head of Strategy and Commercial Finance, will step in as acting CFO after Alastair leaves and until a permanent CFO starts.
“I want to acknowledge that Alastair has achieved an enormous amount during his time at EA.
“Last year, Alastair helped us navigate one of our most challenging periods to ensure we are in a financially resilient position as we start the new year supported by a clear plan that positions EnergyAustralia for success in 2023 and the years ahead. We are also continuing to make progress in identifying funding partners for the new projects that will help us lead the clean energy transition for all.
“On behalf of everyone at EnergyAustralia, I thank him for his contribution and congratulate him on his new role.”
Mr McKeown commented: “It’s been a privilege to have been part of the team at EnergyAustralia since 2016.
“It’s a great business with great people, and the decision to leave wasn’t an easy one. Opportunities like the role at Intellihub don’t come along often, and, in the end, it was one that I couldn’t say no to.
“I will leave knowing the business is well positioned after a challenging 2022 and that we have a clear plan that provides confidence about future success supported by a first-class team in Finance.”
