Media statement for 14 June 2022. Please attribute to an EnergyAustralia spokesperson.
- The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has introduced administered price caps in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
- This is due to wholesale electricity spot prices reaching the cumulative high price threshold, triggering a $300 megawatt hour price cap under the National Electricity Law and the National Electricity Rules.
- Overall costs for supplying power have increased for many reasons. Despite this, EnergyAustralia is working with AEMO, and we are doing all we can to supply our customers with reliable power and help to keep the lights on.
- We are working with the regulators to ensure our plants are operating when required.
