EnergyAustralia’s coal-fired Yallourn power station in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley is scheduled to retire in mid-2028. We plan to retire Yallourn and transition to cleaner energy in a way that does not leave the workforce or the community behind.

​​​​​​​EnergyAustralia is investing in a range of energy projects to bring more capacity into the market and support the volume of renewables entering the system

EnergyAustralia continues to support a capacity mechanism that drives investment in new flexible generation and storage to complement renewables. A separate (and additional) mechanism that provides certainty around the exit of existing coal generation is needed to ensure a smooth transition.

Three units are online at Yallourn power station in Victoria. A fourth unit is offline due to a planned outage and is expected to return to service on 2 September.
