EnergyAustralia is thrilled to announce the recipients of its 2024 Community Grants program, awarding a total of $200,000 to 34 initiatives driving positive change in education, sustainability, and resilient communities. This year’s grants continue our long-standing commitment to empowering local communities where our people live and work.

Since 2016, EnergyAustralia has invested approximately $1.5 million in grassroots programs through our Community Grants initiative. These contributions have supported local organisations that are making a tangible difference in the communities surrounding our operations. This year, we are excited to continue this work, providing communities with the tools and resources they need to grow and make lasting, meaningful change.

EnergyAustralia’s Social Performance Lead, Jade Torcasio, said: “At EnergyAustralia, we recognise that many communities are facing increased challenges, particularly with the rising cost of living.

“Our operations plants are not just in these areas—they are part of them. The Community Grants program is one way we can support local organisations that are working tirelessly to help people navigate these challenges. By backing initiatives focused on education, sustainability, and resilience, we aim to strengthen the communities that are vital to shaping a sustainable future for everyone.”

EnergyAustralia awarded 34 grants in five different regions this year:

  • Mt Piper, NSW: Ten grants including Lithgow High School, who plan to use the funding to support the Lithgow High Sustainable Future Project and to purchase solar model car and boat kits to promote STEM education for students.

  • Geelong, VIC: Three grants including Geelong Foodshare, who will use the funding to install a new waste compactor. The new compactor will make waste handling safer and more efficient at the facility.

  • Hallett, SA: Three grants including Peterborough United Machinery Preservation Society, who will use the funding to provide essential first aid equipment and training for their members.

  • Illawarra, NSW: Nine grants including Tarrawanna Bluey’s Football Club, who plan to use the funding to install a solar energy system at the community clubhouse.

  • Yallourn, VIC: Nine grants including Newborough East Primary School, who will use the funding to install a solar panel system and integrate the electricity generation information from the monitoring systems into their science and math programs.

We extend our congratulations to all the recipients of the 2024 Community Grants. Together, we are driving positive change, creating opportunities, and shaping a more sustainable future for all.

EnergyAustralia encourages local organisations to apply for future grants to bring their projects to life when the applications open early next year. For more information on the application process and eligibility, please visit our Community Grants page.
