EnergyAustralia, one of Australia’s leading energy retailers, today announced the acquisition of 49% in solar and LED lighting company, Echo Group.

Mark Collette, Executive – Customer, said the partnership was about catering for industrial and commercial customers that want to get on top of their energy costs, supported by cutting-edge technologies.

"Households around Australia have been taking advantage of rooftop solar and LED lighting to get back in control of their energy use," Mark said. "Our partnership with Echo is about making those technologies available to businesses, too, because it doesn’t matter how big a customer is, reliability and saving money always matters.

"Echo Group is a great, local Australian business with a reputation for service and great technical advice. Our businesses are a great fit and together we plan on reaching more industrial and commercial customers more often – helping them achieve their saving targets and environmental benefits that much sooner," Mark said.

Echo Group Director and CEO Erik Zimmerman said he welcomes EnergyAustralia as a strategic partner. "Our companies have much in common: a joint ambition to delight customers and lead the transition to a clean energy future. Together, we look forward to bringing these technologies to life for the considerable EnergyAustralia customer base and beyond."

Through the partnership, the parties will work toward Echo Group’s next stage of growth and to put before business customers new and emerging technologies, extending to storage and demand management options, getting them on the road to long-term independence and control.

Echo Group was established in 2012 with four employees and three warehouses in a suburban park. They have since grown to a 60-person operation, that includes an in-house solar and LED installation team from their central warehouse in Victoria’s south east.

In addition, the business has expanded along Australia’s east coast now with offices in New South Wales and Queensland to help meet demand. Under three distinct brands – ‘Littil LED’, ‘Cherry Energy Solutions’ and ‘Eko Energy’ – last year Echo Group served 900 customers with the latest in energy-efficient solar technology and LED lighting.
