EnergyAustralia, one of the country’s leading energy retailers, today announced a partnership with Toyota Tsusho, Toyota Group member in trading and investment, to exchange products and services across borders.
Under the 12-month agreement, energy-efficient technologies sold on the shelf in one company’s home market will be made available to customers in the other. Additionally, EnergyAustralia and Toyota Tsusho have agreed to jointly explore opportunities for new products and services.
EnergyAustralia Executive – NextGen, Andrew Perry, said the international partnership was aimed at meeting the demand of residential and commercial customers for leading-edge technologies, which help them manage their energy consumption and save money.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for our customers to get access to the pipeline of energy products delivered by Toyota Tsusho," Mr Perry said.
"There’s immense value in sharing insights, knowledge and in this example, energy-efficient products and services," Mr Perry said. "Because whether they live in Australia or Japan, most customers want the basics: products, services and options which save them money, put them in control of their energy consumption and reduce their impact on the environment."
Mr Perry said that because Japan relies on importing around 92 per cent of raw energy materials, they’ve become leaders in energy-efficiency technology. "Naturally we will explore all avenues so customers closer to home can experience and benefit from their innovation firsthand.
"We’ll start with a "test-and-learn" approach but we’re very excited about the potential of partnering with Toyota Tsusho, a company with a reputation for quality and innovation," he said.
Toyota Tsusho Managing Executive Officer Yoshihiro Inoue said the partnership which also involves working with Japanese companies, namely manufacturers and service providers, will help optimise energy efficient outcomes for consumers across Japan and Australia.
"We are very excited about this opportunity. This is the important first step of our collaboration with innovative energy retailer, EnergyAustralia, as well as further cooperation of Australian and Japanese companies involved in the energy business," Mr Inoue said.
