When it comes to saving energy, it’s not always clear what steps households can take to make a noticeable impact.
Whether it's understanding how to optimise solar power, learning how to manage energy usage during peak times, or even finding the best appliances for reducing electricity consumption, the process can feel overwhelming.
The good news is that many households can take steps to better manage their energy use – but knowing where to start is key.
That’s where Energy Masters comes in.
What is Energy Masters?
Energy Masters is an exciting project led by SA Power Networks and supported by the Government of South Australia.
They're currently empowering up to 500 South Australian households by providing smart appliances, tools and the guidance to help them manage their energy use.
In return, households participate in research that will strengthen South Australia's position in the global energy transition.
Energy Masters households were selected through an Expression of Interest process in 2024, and are now making their way through the process to select their appliances and retail plan before installations begin.
The final piece of the puzzle is the free home energy management system provided to all participating households, which will help optimise their home energy use.
The future of energy is personalised
As more households adopt solar power, batteries, and smart appliances, the demand for smarter energy solutions will continue to rise. Energy Masters is helping pave the way for a future where energy use is not only smarter, but also more personalised.
Imagine a world where homes are not only capable of generating and storing their own energy but can also automatically manage appliances to optimise electricity consumption. That’s the future Energy Masters envisions for its participants.
Over 370,000 South Australian homes and businesses already have rooftop solar installed. With the insights gained through this project, South Australia will be well-positioned to continue to grow in renewable energy adoption.

As part of this initiative, we’re offering energy plans designed specifically for Energy Masters households, subject to eligibility and availability. These offers are available for households with solar, solar and battery, or those needing electricity only.
