This year marks a significant milestone for our Geelong contact centre as we celebrate 10 years of dedication, community involvement, and a focus on customer service. The celebrations brought together employees from across the business, to honour this remarkable journey and the people who made it possible.
A Decade of Dedication
Since opening our doors in Geelong, we've had the privilege of welcoming over 1,000 employees from 2014 to 2024. Currently, nearly 200 talented individuals continue to serve our customers from this vibrant location. 44 of our team members have been with us since the very beginning, showcasing their unwavering commitment and growth within the company. These individuals have progressed from consultants to team leaders, overseeing our Geelong operations, offshore contact centres, and taking on various roles at our Melbourne office.
It's crazy how 10 years has passed on so quickly! I still remember my first day at EnergyAustralia and the people I met that are now some of my closest friends. I am beyond grateful to the Geelong Contact centre for being my stepping stone into the Energy Industry and feel very fortunate to continue to progress throughout the company and into such a rewarding role where I can give back to our Contact Centres, especially Geelong who I will always have a soft spot for! - Jamie
Giving Back to the Community
Our commitment to the Geelong community extends beyond our workplace. Over the past decade, we have proudly donated more than $400,000 to various local causes, embodying our community-minded values.
Volunteering is at the core of our community engagement. Our employees have collectively dedicated over 1,600 hours to various initiatives, including:

Building Careers and Supporting the Local Economy
Opening the Geelong contact centre was a beacon of hope during a challenging time when multiple local businesses laid off thousands of employees. We provided new job opportunities, reskilling many individuals for roles within our centre. Our first year saw an overwhelming response, with 300 hires selected from thousands of applicants. At our peak, we employed up to 400 individuals in the region, reflecting our significant contribution to the local economy.
Over the past 10 years has allowed me to discover my strengths are use them to help myself overcome challenges, not only at work but in my personal life as well. I love that EnergyAustralia is inclusive of everyone! No matter your what background, gender, cultural status or sexual orientation, everyone is welcome and supported. - Kelly
Diversity and Inclusivity
Our workforce is a tapestry of diverse backgrounds, ranging from school leavers to individuals returning to the workforce after retirement. We pride ourselves on creating an inclusive environment where everyone can bring their whole selves to work. Our participation in events like the Geelong Rainbow Festival highlights our commitment to celebrating diversity and fostering a culture of acceptance and support.

I never thought I would be somewhere for 10 years, from never working in a call centre, Geelong had the best atmosphere and people. I am so grateful to EnergyAustralia & the Geelong leaders for allowing me to move around and grow my knowledge of the industry and the business. But most of all the people here are AMAZING, the people at EnergyAustralia make the hardest days the best days, and some amazing friendships have come from starting in Geelong all those years ago - Amanda
